Ahhhh the ever enticing and often elusive handstand (&/or forearm-stand)! This beast demands a long-term relationship and promises lots of surprises and self discovery along the path. We are doing a 2-step workshop series with Step 1 designed to set up your foundational alignment and give you strength building techniques with a focus on homework that you can make a self practice! Whilst we encourage you to participate in both Step 1 & 2 of this series, Step 1 is a MUST if inversions are singing out to your spirit. Expect partner work and wall work on this journey.

MAYURASANA & CHINSTAND

Here we go again…yet ANOTHER fun pathway of arm/hand balancing! This pair of poses are funky friends for sure. If you are curious about Chinstand or Peacock then put this one in your calendar! These poses can be intimidating and brain teasers trying to work out how to get both feet off the ground! Luckily there are some top secret tricks we will share to help you unlock your inner super powers. A regular vinyasa (Burn/Flow) practice is recommended for this workshop. Expect partner work to build your confidence in taking flight and to support your understanding of the poses.
Moving away from the wall

Hands up who has fear of doing inversions in the middle of the room!!! Its natural to be afraid of face-planting…because landing on your noggin is never ideal! That being said, with dedication and persistence it is possible to leave the wall behind and move towards freedom in balance! We wont promise that in one workshop you’ll be ready to join Cirque du Soleil, but we do promise to teach you the pathway towards free-balance, and more importantly we will teach you how to escape safely when required. Expect partner work in this wonderous upsidedown adventure.

Back to basics

In a fast paced vigorous class its hard to integrate all the cues and it can be hard to maintain a focus on your alignment. This workshop will afford lots of time to exploring what is the right alignment for YOU and give you things to think about whenever you roll out your mat. From the ground up we’ll be looking at the foundational standing postures. When these poses are practiced in proper alignment, they are the key to unlocking other more complex or advances positions. No matter your level of practice there will always be room for refinement :)

This often sensory overloading group of postures tends to polarise yogis into love/hate corners! Our mission is to find the middle path, where you understand whats taking place as your spine extends, and how some small adjustments can make a HUGE difference in physical sensation and energetic experience of backbends. Its these adjustments and enhanced understanding that begin to unlock more advanced variations, but more importantly keep your spine and shoulders happy while you practice. Expect partner work. All levels of students welcome.
